On Monday, January 19, 2026, our lives completely changed. Our sweet daughter Brooke was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), and that same night we were immediately transferred to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.
Brooke has always been a healthy little girl, so the diagnosis came as a complete shock to our entire family. For the past two months, we have been in Memphis by her side as she undergoes aggressive chemotherapy treatment. She is expected to go home in April, but her overall treatment plan will last approximately two and a half years, with continuous chemotherapy and regular follow-up clinic visits. Our journey is far from over and it will definitely be a long road ahead, but we are taking it one day at a time.
Our days are long and often exhausting. They are filled with multiple visits to the leukemia clinic, the infusion center, and therapy sessions, all while managing both IV and oral chemotherapy medications. Brooke has undergone multiple surgical procedures, including placement of a PICC line, a chemo port, and countless lumbar punctures to administer intrathecal chemotherapy. We also have biweekly lab visits to monitor her bloodwork, electrolytes, and blood cell counts.
While this journey has been overwhelming, Brooke continues to show strength and resilience beyond her years. Through it all she has remained strong and brave; waking up everyday with strength and courage. So far she has been responding well to the treatment and after four weeks of treatment was considered MRD Negative with no leukemia cells found in her bone marrow or blood. This was incredible news, and the fact that she achieved MRD negative within four weeks at the end of the first phase is even more remarkable and a strong indicator of a very positive long-term prognosis.
Who is Brooke The Brave?
Brooke is a smart, sweet, and silly 6 year old girl who loves playing outside, riding her scooter and bike, and going swimming. She is also incredibly creative and enjoys drawing, painting and decorating. A true girly girl at heart, she loves dressing up and wearing tutus, sequins, and all things sparkly. Her favorite colors are pink, purple and gold! She’s inquisitive and observant, loves watching movies, and has the most beautiful imagination.
Most of all, Brooke is kind, compassionate, and full of love for her family; especially her sweet sister, Brielle. Although she has leukemia, leukemia does not have her. She is still our sweet little Brooke: strong, joyful, creative, and full of light.
