Evalisse is such a kind and sweet soul. She’s the youngest of all seven siblings—and the youngest of my six children.
Where do I even begin? If you’ve had the chance to meet Evalisse, or even just know of her, you already know she’s the light of any room—so full of life and love. At just 10 years old, she’s mature beyond her years and as precious as they come.
Evalisse was diagnosed with severe asthma, chronic hives, and a long list of allergies. While those diagnoses might sound common, her case is far from typical. She’s allergic to so much: trees, grass, weeds, bees, yellow jackets, wasps, dust mites, cats, dogs, and more. Some of her allergies can’t even be clearly identified—which is where the chronic hives come into play, often triggering breathing issues and asthma attacks.
Every day brings its own challenges, but Evalisse pushes forward with resilience. She stays active in sports and continues to make the honor roll, even after missing school due to health issues.
In the coming months, we’ll begin treatments to help build her immune system. Right now, Evalisse takes four different medications twice a day and carries a medical bag with her at all times. That’s a heavy burden for a child her age—but she carries it with grace and strength.
