In Memoriam of Micah Elizabeth Hackbarth

Story

Sarah and Jacob Hackbarth gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Micah Elizabeth on January 6th, 2024. She was given her name as a meaning of "Who is like God?" and "My God is my oath and abundance". Micah was a gift, she refused to keep her arms swaddled, enjoyed snuggling, and was full of curiosity and joy just like her parents. 

After 19 days with their baby girl they discovered Micah had a rare form of infant leukemia. Thanks to the staff at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital, Micah was given tremendous care and was given enough time to see family before passing 6 days later. During this time grand parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins were present and said they experienced a profund peace in the midst of the sorrow they were in. Through grieving together they all felt a powerful bond to one another and the hope found in Micah's final days and beyond has been an ecouragement to all thsoe around them.
