Story

Jack has been battling a difficult health journey for almost a year. It's complicated and doesn't make sense at times but the main things to focus on are: He was a perfectly healthy, above average kid in all areas (academics, band, soccer, boy scouts, youth group, etc.) until his ‘routine’ adenoidectomy in early August 2022 that he has never recovered from. And what we now know due to loads of imaging including MRIs, MRVs, CTs, conebeam CTs, upright MRIs, a DMX, an angiogram/venogram, and a myelogram/cisternogram just to name a few, is that he has upper cervical instability AND a misaligned jaw. This is potentially causing the extreme head pain he deals with day in and day out in addition to a vascular component that we are still trying to fully understand. Additionally, Jack has also been diagnosed with POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) and as having a hypermobile spectrum disorder.

Recently, we found out that JG’s jaw joints are upset bilaterally as his temporalis muscles are exceptionally painful to the touch. Jaw realignment appliances will be custom made in the coming weeks to begin this 3–4-month treatment. And unfortunately, insurance will not cover this costly new treatment.

His main symptoms are: EXTREME head pain, inability to be upright for more than 5 minutes or so, brain fog/cognitive confusion, neural tension, an inability to play with legos, read books, or even follow along with a movie plot line. He doesn’t eat well nor does he sleep well. And it is CONSTANT. Jack Gray (or JG as we like to call him) is in incredible pain 24/7. He has trouble articulating words/thoughts, and also experiences tremors due to the pain. JG has tried numerous medications, but so far nothing has worked.

Clearly JG has something wrong, and we are trying to exhaust all options in seeking treatment. God has been so faithful to our family from the very beginning of this journey, and we trust that He will not stop. When we get yet another medical bill or meet one more roadblock, God has constantly provided. It’s humbling and we are so grateful. We appreciate your prayers and words of encouragement more than you know. Your support will go towards appointments, therapies, imaging, consultant fees, further care for JG, paid leave for Cody as he has had to miss so much work, groceries, gas, tolls and all the other things that go with keeping a household running smoothly.

“And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the Rock.”  -Matthew 7:25
