Story
Hi!
We're the Knake family and our 6 year old daughter, Nora, has Cerebral Palsy. We are hoping to raise as many funds as we can to support her journey to Dallas, Texas for a month's worth of specialized physical therapy.
A little about our girl : Nora was born 13 weeks early, weighing only 1lb 11oz at birth and sadly, developed an infected blood clot in her heart. Nora was too little at the time for open heart surgery, so while waiting for her to grow big enough to operate, a piece of the clot broke off and traveled to her brain and lungs, causing extensive damage. At that point, doctors told us the operation could no longer be done because blood thinners during heart surgery could make the brain damage worse. They told us we should prepare our goodbyes.
But with persuasion and prayer, Nora was able to have open heart surgery to remove the rest of the blood clot with no further brain bleeding and was able to come home after spending the first 5 months of her life in the hopsital. Now she's 6 years old and on a journey to physical independence. Currently, Nora cannot walk, sit, or stand on her own but we believe in her intense determination and want to give her every opportunity we can to help strengthen her entire body.
Nora is the sweetest girl, who loves BIG and has the best laugh in the entire world. She loves swimming, the beach, kitties, Gabby's Dollhouse, playing doctor, putting on makeup and dancing in the kitchen with her little sister. We're grateful for her every day, and are commited to giving her the future that her doctors didn't think she'd have. She has already beat so many odds, and we want to keep her momentum going!
Thank you for reading our girl's story!
