Story
The Mount Vernon Middle School Science Olympiad team claimed the 2026 State Title and now they are headed to the National Tournament at the University of Southern California on May 22-23! This incredible group of 14 Mount Vernon 6th-9th grade students is one of only 60 teams that will head to nationals and vie for the trophy.
WE NEED YOUR HELP! Travel costs are $35,000 and we need to raise a portion of this in one month. Please consider donating or attending one of our fundraisers to help us finish the race! All donations will go to travel, lodging, food and shipping of competition materials.
Since October, YOUR TEAM spent many afterschool hours preparing for their tournaments. Since wining the State Tournament, they've added Saturday mornings to their preparation schedules. Please donate as generously as you are able to honor and support our young people for their achievements.
A little more about Science Olympiad:
For over 40 years, Science Olympiad has lead a revolution in science education. What began as a grassroots assembly of science teachers is now one of the premiere science competitions in the nation; providing rigorous standards-based challenges to nearly 6000 teams across the country.
Competitions are like track meets, consisting of a series of 23 team events across divisions. Annually, a portion of the events are rotated to reflect the changing nature of anatomy, physica, geology, astronomy, mechanical engineering and technology. By combining events from many disciplines, Science Olympiad encourages a wide cross-section of students to get involved in active hands-on challenges.
